Here’s three reasons why this 2014 Thunder Jet 20’ Canyon may be the last boat you ever buy.
It’s a river boat first and foremost. Discovering the hidden gems – the secret fishing holes, the nooks, the crannies, the hunting spots most outdoorsmen never get to see is easy when you own a jet boat.
This is a durable vessel (.250 bottom with full UHMW) that’s meant to take on rough rivers and rugged shorelines. A welded pump-protector keeps your pump (this one has two, actually) from damage in the shallows as well. The stomp grate and sand trap are designed to keep your pumps and cooling system free of debris too.
You can stay up river if you want too, ‘cause this one has a heater and defroster and full camper top and sleeper bench seat (bring along a couple of sleeping bags and you’ll be snug-as-a-bug-in-rug).
With a 12-degree hull and reverse chines this baby adapts easily as a dream fishing vessel. The 9.9 hp Mercury four-stoke kicker motor has a remote-controlled panther steer (T-4), so you can explore the narrows and the reeds where the big fish hide. And, with the help of the Hummin Bird Helix, you’ll find them too. Having a 96” beam creates lots of floor space for casting (better yet from the open bow) and an on-board wash-down kit means you can easily clean your catch-of-the-day.
Kids just wanna have fun? Kicking back and relaxing on lazy afternoons at the lake with the tunes cranked, pulling kids and cousins around on a tube (it has a towing hook right above the swim step) is a breeze with 480 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque at your finger tips and electric trim tabs to help adjust the wake.
Even if the weather changes on you (welcome to Alberta), you can quickly zip on the sides and rear panels on your canopy and keep everyone warm (remember the heater?) till it changes back ten minutes later.
Triple Threat equals Triple Fun.
Let’s have a closer look: there’s only 151 hrs on this boat including only 70 hours on the full roller 383 V-8 with sniper EFI system, so at 2500 rpm you can run at 8 gallons per hour. As I mentioned, this Canyon comes with two American Turbine pumps (both with stainless impellers and wear rings and split duct reverse for better handling). The A/T 312 is currently installed and the A/T 203 can be bolted on in minutes (you’ll likely want to use this one if you’re up river hunting game).
Other stuff includes: Padded windshield cover, driver and passenger wipers, tilt-steering, anchor locker, padded motor box and jump seats, three tops, welded cleats, bow and stern rails, dual batteries with disconnect and rocket launchers included.
The galvanized Gateway trailer is easy to tow and launch from. It’s been upgraded to include load guides, surge brakes, torsion axles, spare tire and rock guard.
The Thunder Jet Canyon is adaptable. Are you?
